Announcing Leadership Change

Dear Cal State East Bay community,

I am writing today to inform you that Dr. Suzanne Espinoza has resigned as Vice President, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Please join me in thanking Dr. Espinoza for her administrative service to Cal State East Bay over the past six years.

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Brenda Amenson-Hill has agreed to serve as Interim Vice President, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Cal State East Bay beginning October 7, 2024. Dr. Amenson-Hill most recently served as Interim Vice Chancellor, Enrollment Management at University of California, Merced and as Vice President, Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at Minnesota State University, Moorhead from 2016-2023 among other higher education roles throughout her career.

I am confident that Dr. Amenson-Hill’s student focused approach to strategic enrollment management and student success initiatives will provide the leadership and guidance we need following Dr. Espinoza’s departure. I am grateful Dr. Amenson-Hill will join us at this critical time.

Dr. Martin Castillo will serve as administrator in charge for Student Affairs until Dr. Amenson-Hill’s arrival. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this leadership transition.

Yours sincerely,

Cathy Sandeen
